This is poster #4 in my 30-Day Grids & Layouts Challenge, a personal initiative to refine my skills in structuring visual compositions. For this piece, I chose a simple yet refined modular grid to not only create a visually compelling layout but to systematize, organize and establish a distinct identity for aerospace research. My goal was to translate dense scientific findings into a structured, immersive design that reflects the groundbreaking nature of the discoveries it presents.
I worked meticulously to craft a layout that mimics a floating sensation—evoking the feeling of drifting through space, much like floating through information and uncovering discoveries along the way. As you navigate through the design, you’re not just absorbing knowledge but experiencing it in real time, surrounded by artifacts and records from the era. This approach transforms the act of reading into an exploration, immersing the viewer in history and making them a part of these monumental discoveries.
To do this, I explored archives of manuscripts and notes from renowned scientists, past and present, drawing inspiration from their wisdom and contributions. I also used real time photos like 'Earthrise' from the famous Apollo 8 Mission, as well as different worn out textures and backgrounds to give the overall feeling of flipping through the archives. A cohesive design, unified by a deep blue tone, gives these volumes a recognizable and memorable visual language—one that categorizes and elevates aerospace research while honoring the pioneers behind it.
