For this graphic design project, the objective was to create custom product packaging from scratch using Photoshop, with a focus on pairing the product with a suitable country. I selected chic and stylish frosted white sunglasses, cleverly targeting the Alaskan market. The assignment emphasized using strong art direction to depict the product attractively and engagingly.
The process began with thorough research and concept development. I studied Alaskan culture, climate, and consumer preferences to ensure the product and packaging would resonate with the target audience. This research included analyzing current packaging trends in the fashion and accessories market, which informed my design choices and helped me conceptualize a product that would seamlessly integrate with Alaskan lifestyles.
In the design execution phase, I used Photoshop to create the packaging entirely from scratch. This took a deep dive and an understanding in fundamental shapes, lighting and shadows to construct cool packaging and essentially the mockup for my design. The design emphasized clean lines, modern typography, and a frosty color palette that reflected Alaska's pristine landscape. It boasts an igloo design to depict the native structure which was also essential in ensuring that the packaging was both attractive and functional.
A significant aspect of the design process was mastering the use of light and shadow to give the packaging depth and dimension. By strategically applying highlights and shadows, I created a realistic and engaging representation of the product that would catch the consumer's eye. This attention to detail helped enhance the overall visual appeal of the packaging.
The final stage involved meticulous detailing and refinement of the design elements. I ensured that the text was legible and well-placed, the imagery reflected Alaskan landscape, and the overall composition was balanced and aesthetically pleasing. This attention to detail was crucial in creating a packaging design that not only looked good but also effectively communicated the benefits of the "Alaskan Point of View".
The result was a sophisticated and stylish packaging design that effectively captured the essence of Alaska while appealing to the local consumer's sense of style and practicality. This project showcased my technical skills in graphic design and Photoshop and highlighted my ability to use art direction to create a compelling and marketable product presentation.
